Bonnie Keaveny
I was born an artistic soul. Influenced by my mother’s creative spirit. Inspired by nature’s forms, colors, and light, I create pieces and spaces that fill me.
One of the joys of my life has been the ability to take things, either nature or man-made, and reform and repurpose them for practical or decorative use. All my life, I have drawn, painted, gardened, designed, and built things around me that I find pleasing. The process of making is as satisfying as the outcome. I have always had the passion to express myself creatively. It’s like a sixth sense. While some may call it compulsive, I call it soulful. Creating is the very essence of who I am.
Now, my attention has turned to pottery making. I work on both the wheel and with slab pottery. Starting with the basics, I add my own touches and create pieces that invoke enthusiasm, beauty, comfort and soul play. I love to experiment with the clay, creating one-of-a-kind, random or whimsical ceramic pieces. Other times my work is more purposeful, and I create vessels that can and should be used every day in the kitchen, garden or home.
Many of my pieces are Japanese inspired or nature inspired. Sometimes I am inspired by those around me. I’m never sure where the next inspiration will come from, but I always look forward to it and embrace it.
Hopefully, as you take these pieces into your own life, use them, feel them and look at them, you will experience a bit of the joy and love built into every one.
